Youth Smartphone Photography Competition: People, Places, Spaces

Into smartphone photography? Show us the world through your eyes – get inspired by friends, family, daily life, or anything else that matters to you. Think about the theme: People, Places, Spaces. 

The top ten photos will be exhibited in Hume Libraries branches, and prizes are available in the following categories:

Category 1: Ages 12–15

Winner: $200 JB Hi-Fi voucher

Runner-up: $150 JB Hi-Fi voucher

 

Category 2: Ages 16-20

Winner: $200 JB Hi-Fi voucher

Runner-up: $150 JB Hi-Fi voucher

Terms and Conditions

  1. The promoter of this competition is Hume City Council (Council).
  2. The competition is open only to people aged between 12 and 20 years who live, work or attend a school in Hume City.
  3. Hume Libraries Youth Smartphone Photography Competition is open for entries on Monday 7 October 2024. Entries close on Friday 20 December 2024. Late entries will not be accepted.
  4. There will be a total prize pool of $700. Prizes are non-transferrable and non-exchangeable.
  5. Entries should be submitted via the online form.
  6. Up to three images per person may be submitted.
  7. Entry into the competition requires that subjects within the photographs have given permission for their image to appear in publications, online, and print media.
  8. Photographs submitted must be the entrant’s own work.
  9. All submitted entries are non-returnable.
  10. Copyright remains with the photographer, but by entering the competition the photographer grants Hume City Council license to use, name and publish the photograph for promotional purposes including publication in print, broadcast and/or electronic media without any fee payment, for the purposes of promoting the competition or areas related to the organiser’s work.
  11. Hume City Council reserves the right to move entrants' submission into the most appropriate category based on their age.
  12. Entrants under the age of 18 years must have the permission section of the online entry form completed by a parent or guardian agreeing to the terms and conditions.
  13. The judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Only winners and runners-up will be contacted.
  14. Council will attempt to contact the winners and runners-up. If no contact can be made, entry into the competition will be regarded as permission to publish the entry and the winners and runners-up names in accordance with the terms and conditions of the competition.
